If it wasn’t for Covid, I would have probably still not seen the Grand Canyon. In fact, I would have not done any of my four long US roadtrips if it wasn’t for Covid. I had decided long time ago that I would tour the US once I was old and decrepit: I would buy an RV and go. And until then, I would vagabond the world.
I have hiked some spectacular large canyons in Africa, Australia, Asia, South America, Southern Pacific… yet, I had never ventured to the Grand. Until February 2021.
It is rather urbanized and crowded. But it is magnificent. I ended up hiking the rim all afternoon and evening into pitch dark. And then I hiked in pitch dark. The following morning, I got up at 4:30 and headed for the rim and hiked around all day until it got dark again.
